You CAN do it!

Makeover madness! Don't let anyone suggest you can't have a stylish home without spending loads of money. Here's today's C&J design project. The rules, generally speaking, are simple. Think outside the box. Shop smart in second hand stores. Be prepared to upcycle your way to a brighter future. Use left over paint and paper. Carefully watch on line auctions to root out the best bargains. And remember that every time you 'save' an item from landfill, you impact positively on the environment. And we only have one world…

To enliven this basic wood veneer cabinet (which you may remember from our recent HGTV special 'Colin and Justin's Street Swap') we sanded it down to the bare bones to eradicate the toffee toned pallor. Then we recoloured it taupe grey using Benjamin Moore paint. Next, we attached pre measured Lucite legs (having removed the old peg type legs) and embellished the doors with textural seagrass paper scraps which we sweet talked, as samples, from a friendly supplier.
