Hollywood calling!

After an amazingly successful trip to Vancouver where we headlned The West Coast Women's Show, we've just jetted into LA ( last night) for a few days of glitz and glamour.  We're staying in a super gorgeous hotel called The SLS and it's just across the road from the famous Sinai hospital.  It's really exciting being here and we have great plans for a busy few days!

When we arrived last night we were pretty pooped as Vancouver was hugely busy with numerous breakfast TV appearances and a load of radio and newspaper interviews to promo the Abbotsford show.  So we didn't stray far from the hotel and had dinner in Bazaar, the downstairs restaurant.  Have to say there were so many glamorous people but we should also report that we've never seen so many facelifted coupons in one place!  Most of them looked pretty good but we also saw some pretty frightening sights.  Note to selves - resist the knife...

The SLS is a Philippe Starke bolthole so it's all very cool.  Really quirky decor and wonderful artwork everywhere.  After a late night dip in the open air heated swimming pool we hit the sack about midnight which meant we were able to get up, bright and breezy, this morning.  Loving the La La Land!

Had a lazy brunch with a couple of girlfriends before heading off on a tour of Hollywood.  The whole of LA was absolutely jam packed because Obama came into the city this afternoon.  We were lucky enough to see his car on Wiltshire and got a glimpse of the man himself.  One of his engagements is dinner at the home of Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffiths, both of whom we met at TIFF when we did all our red carpet interviews for City TV!  Damn it - WE should have had a dinner invite too!  Hey; next time...

Tonight we're off for dinner with pals and a drive around the city in their antique open top Lincoln.  We're missing our own vintage 1968 Mercedes 280SL which is parked up in our Toronto basement car park... but the Lincoln will be a sexy stand in and should be a brilliant way to see the city.  Bliss!  Because we're up to date on all our newspaper columns it means we can enjoy a couple of vino's this evening.  Which is a lovely prospect!  Not, you understand, that we're big drinkers.  Hic'!

The weather here is really wierd at the moment - really hazy and it gets dark at around 6pm.  And we mean REALLY dark.  But it's warm so we won't grumble.  It's normally around 80 degrees at this time of year but today it was only 65 degrees.  Perhaps it'll heat up tomorrow.  We've brought wardrobe to suit any weather permutation.  From cottons and linens to fully lined storm gear - aye, we've got it all.  Boys have to be ready for any variation.

We've got four glorious days in LA and thereafter we'll be heading back to Toronto and then on to Glasgow for three weeks.  Busy times but we like being run off our feet.  It's when we perform best...

In other joyous news our candle company which launched this very week (www.candjhome.co.uk) is going from strength to strength.  We have several beautiful smell combos (all manufactured in Scotland using soy wax) and they have already been really well received.  Thank you for all the support!  For those that have indulged we hope you enjoy the gorgeous aroma's!   Each candle is made in Scotland with care... and a warm Northern smile.  It's a family business so we're all in this together.  We'll be growing the company as the market dicates so watch this space!

Trust this finds you all well, hale and hearty,

More later, Colin and Justin xx
